WHAT IN THE SAM HELL IS A SALON?  "A salon is a gathering of stimulating people of quality under the roof of an inspiring hostess or host, partly to amuse one another and partly to refine their taste and increase their knowledge through conversation and readings, often consciously following Horace's definition of the aims of poetry, "to please and educate."  The salons, commonly associated with French literary and philosophical salons of the 17th century and 18th century, were carried on until quite recently in urban settings among like-minded people of a set.

WHEN & WHERE Y'ALL MEETIN'?  The Actors Bridge Studio at the Neuhoff Site, 100 Monroe Street, Germantown District.  The event begins at 7p.m. (following your request for more time!) and concludes whenever we see fit.

WHY Y'ALL DOIN' THIS...SOUNDS KINDA SILLY?  We're bringing the family together to continue our celebration of the HILARIOUS 2009 ABE SEASON.  Join students and supporters for a casual evening of wine, food, and merriment. We will examine the work of the brilliant playwright, screenwriter, director, actor Sam Shepard.  You'll get to visit with  SIMPATICO director Dusty Shaffer plus the cast and design team.  The evening will include video snippets from "This So Called Disaster" and maybe a Shepard scene or two. Watch a showcase of scene work from some Meisner classes and participate in a few rounds of Meisner improv - the heart of soul of our performance philosophy. (April Special Feature: the independent activity!! YOUR FAVORITE!!)
 
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?  SOUNDS LIKE ONE HELLUVA PARTY!  Just bring yourself, a guest, and a beverage of your choosing.  Donations are highly suggested but not required.  Funds will go to finance future Salons.  Light refreshment will be provided.  RSVP to Vali if you plan on attending.  Join us for an evening like no other!  Make new friends and reconnect with old.  Oh yeah, no powdered wigs are required...except for Bill.
