Just married. Already bored. Hedda longs to be freed. In this classic play by A Doll’s House playwright Henrik Ibsen, gender norms within the institution of marriage clash with a woman’s desire for independence. Hedda confronts whether power, or even equality, is within her grasp as a woman, a question whose answer remains uncertain for many in 2018. Under the direction of Scott Patrick Wilson, a team of students explores Hedda Gabler’s immediate relevance through a bold, modern minimalist approach to this classic piece.
